A. Investigation on Landslides Triggered by Earthquakes, Kuohsin Area

There are 1961 landslides sites in the Kuohsin map sheet. The total area affected by landslides is 1126 hectares. Landslides occurring within rocks of the Toukoshan Formation amount to 924, or 42%, of the sum total. The total areas affected is 702.5 hectares, constituting 62.4% of total areas affected by landslides in this map sheet. The major expressions is the so-called "Ninety Nine Peaks" developed in Toukoshan rock formations. Here the number of individual landslide and the affected area are both high.. However, this rock formation are all steep slope shallow sliding type, and in this area, the degree of development is still low, direct danger from landslides is low.
