A. Investigation and Research on Rock Mass Engineering Properties

Map of lirhological assembly of rock formations presents information on rock formation assemblies, designated according to thickness association. In these 1:25,000 scale maps, the distribution of rock beds in the assemblies, their respective boundaries with rerfeerence to existing stratigraphic framework, and specific rock unit predominate/subordinate relationship are presented. Igneous rocks are assembled with due regard to their mode of occurrence.

In the 2002 fiscal year, fourteen sheets of maps of 1:25,000 scale were finished. They constituted the first batch in a series of "Map on Engineering Geological Characteristics of Rock Masses Underlying Slopelands in Taiwan". There are two separate maps in each: a map on lithologic assembly distribution, and one on classification of rock mass according to size/strength configuration. This map series will furnish fundamental information on the rock mass and the size/strength relationship, for use in slopeland engineering planning, environmental geologic analysis, and hazard prevention in slopeland areas. The maps are presented in digitized GIS format.
